AI is now embedded in credit scoring, hiring, customer service, fraud detection and public services, and regulators, customers and boards expect proof that it is controlled. Weak oversight leads to biased outcomes, data leaks, unexplained decisions and reputational damage. This ten-day advanced programme gives senior practitioners the skills to build and run a certifiable governance framework. The first week covers the AI lifecycle, risk taxonomy, governance structures, policies, roles, inventories, and the clauses and Annex A controls of ISO/IEC 42001, alongside the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and the principles in the OECD guidance.
The second week moves into applied work: AI impact assessments, fairness and bias testing, explainability, model validation, monitoring for drift, third-party and generative AI risk, data protection, incident response, internal audit and management review. A capstone has you assemble an implementation plan and audit evidence pack for a chosen system. Heads of risk, compliance and data, CIOs, CISOs, data scientists, AI product owners, internal auditors, legal counsel and public sector digital leaders will gain most. Classroom, online and in-house formats are offered with a CPD-accredited certificate. Afterwards you can lead an AI governance programme and prepare an organisation for external assessment.
Artificial intelligence has moved from experimentation into core operations, and with it has come a wave of expectations. Boards ask who is accountable for algorithmic decisions, regulators are drafting or enforcing AI rules, and customers and partners want assurance that systems are fair, secure and explainable. ISO/IEC 42001 provides a management system standard that organisations can implement and have certified, yet turning its requirements into working practice is a considerable task.
This advanced programme runs over ten days and takes participants from foundations to implementation. The opening block establishes the AI lifecycle, the main categories of AI risk, the regulatory and standards landscape and the structure of an AI management system, including context, leadership, planning, support, operation, performance evaluation and improvement. The second block develops the technical and ethical controls: impact assessment, data governance, bias and fairness testing, transparency and explainability, human oversight, robustness, security and privacy. A third block covers operational governance, including model inventories, procurement and supplier assurance, generative AI controls, monitoring, incident handling and documentation.
The final days focus on assurance and delivery. Participants learn internal audit techniques, readiness assessment, corrective action and management review, and they work in teams on a capstone case. Throughout, teaching mixes standards workshops, templates, lab exercises on sample models and discussion of real incidents. Each participant finishes with an implementation roadmap and a working set of governance documents.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
