Climate change threatens agricultural productivity while agriculture contributes to emissions. Climate-smart agriculture increases productivity while adapting to climate risks and reducing emissions — making it essential for farmer resilience.
Climate change is the defining development challenge of our time — agriculture is both victim and perpetrator. This course teaches agricultural professionals to design and promote Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices that increase farmer productivity and resilience while reducing agricultural emissions.
Participants work through CSA practice portfolios suited to their contexts, building the technical knowledge and promotion skills to support farmer adoption at scale.
Throughout the programme, participants work through realistic scenarios drawn from public sector institutions, private enterprises, development organizations, and regulated professional environments, examining how climate smart agriculture (CSA) is applied in practice and where it most often breaks down. Delegates will develop practical skill in designing appropriate frameworks, selecting and applying the right tools for identifying and evaluating CSA, interpreting findings, and communicating conclusions clearly to colleagues, management and external stakeholders. Sessions move deliberately from principles to application, so that each technique introduced is practised against a realistic problem before the programme moves on — strengthening both individual effectiveness and the wider capability of the organizations delegates return to.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
