Coaching and Mentoring Skills Training Course

Managers who coach well get more from their people, keep talent longer and spend less time fixing problems that staff could solve themselves. You start with core coaching principles and the professional communication behind them, especially active listening, open questioning and giving feedback that motivates. Models such as GROW, OSKAR and solution-focused approaches are practised in short structured conversations linked to performance goals. The difference between coaching, mentoring, counselling and managing is made clear so you choose the right approach for each situation.

Mentoring strategies cover how to set up, contract and close mentoring relationships, along with sponsorship, career conversations and mentoring across generations. A session on AI looks at how digital tools can support reflection, track goals and suggest learning resources without replacing human judgement. Triad practice, with each participant taking turns as coach, coachee and observer, provides plenty of feedback. Line managers, HR and learning professionals, team leaders and senior specialists asked to mentor juniors will find it directly relevant. The final day produces a personal coaching action plan and a framework for introducing mentoring in your organization.

About this course

Coaching and Mentoring Skills Training provides practical approaches for developing people, improving performance, and strengthening leadership through structured coaching and mentoring practices. Participants explore communication techniques, coaching models, mentoring frameworks, feedback strategies, performance improvement methods, and AI-supported coaching solutions. The course also strengthens relationship building, goal setting, employee engagement, and continuous professional development through practical workplace applications. Participants complete the training with practical tools that support coaching conversations, mentoring programs, performance monitoring, and measurable development outcomes.

Throughout the programme, participants work through realistic scenarios drawn from public sector institutions, private enterprises, development organizations, and regulated professional environments, examining how coaching and mentoring skills is applied in practice and where it most often breaks down. Delegates will develop practical skill in designing appropriate frameworks, selecting and applying the right tools for active listening skills, interpreting findings, and communicating conclusions clearly to colleagues, management and external stakeholders. Sessions move deliberately from principles to application, so that each technique introduced is practised against a realistic problem before the programme moves on — strengthening both individual effectiveness and the wider capability of the organizations delegates return to.
