Digital Transformation in Advocacy, Policy Influence & Partnerships Training Course in Abuja, Nigeria

Classroom training in Abuja · next cohort Nov 9, 2026 · from USD 2,800

Policy decisions are now shaped on social platforms, in WhatsApp groups, through open data portals and during virtual consultations as much as in meeting rooms. Organisations that still run advocacy from spreadsheets and email threads lose track of contacts, miss windows for influence and struggle to show donors what their effort achieved. Over five days, participants learn to redesign advocacy and partnership work around digital tools and evidence.

About this course

Advocacy and partnership teams in civil society, networks and public bodies are working in a very different environment from even five years ago. Decision makers read policy briefs on their phones, citizens organise around hashtags and community radio call-ins, and funders ask for evidence of influence rather than a list of meetings held. Digital transformation in this field is not about buying software; it is about changing how an organisation listens, plans, collaborates and learns.

The Digital Transformation in Advocacy, Policy Influence & Partnerships Training Course starts with a diagnostic of current practice and a theory of change for a chosen policy issue. It then builds the digital foundations: stakeholder databases and power mapping, content and campaign planning, social listening, policy tracking and rapid response. Later sessions turn to collaboration with coalitions, government counterparts and private sector partners, covering shared platforms, data governance, consent and digital safety for staff and communities at risk.

Learning is practical. Participants work on their own advocacy issues, build working templates and dashboards, and test them in simulated policy windows. They finish with a costed digital roadmap, a monitoring framework that links online activity to policy outcomes and a plan for bringing colleagues and partners on board.

Training Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Assess the digital maturity of an organisation's advocacy and partnership work.
  • Map stakeholders, allies and opponents in a CRM and prioritise targets for influence.
  • Design a multi-channel digital campaign with clear audiences, messages and calls to action.
  • Use policy monitoring tools and open data to identify openings for engagement.
  • Establish digital collaboration arrangements with coalitions and partners, including data-sharing terms.
  • Apply digital safety and data protection practices that protect staff, supporters and communities.
  • Measure policy influence using outcome harvesting and dashboards.
  • Build a costed roadmap for digital transformation of an advocacy programme.
