Live Online Financial Analysis for NGOs Training
Live online, instructor-led · next cohort Nov 2, 2026 · from USD 800
Non-profits live on restricted grants, unpredictable income and donor scrutiny, so a weak grasp of the numbers can threaten programmes long before cash actually runs out. The week opens with how non-profit finances are structured, including fund accounting, restricted and unrestricted income, cost allocation and the statement of financial activities. You then apply ratio and trend analysis to judge liquidity, reserves, programme efficiency, overhead levels and dependence on single funders. Sessions on budgeting and forecasting cover multi-donor budgets, cash flow projections, burn rates and variance analysis that explains why spending differs from plan.
Grant analysis looks at budget-to-actual tracking by donor, eligible and ineligible costs, audit findings and the financial risks of co-funding and currency movements. Finally, you practise turning analysis into short, decision-ready reports for directors, boards and donors. Finance officers, grants accountants, programme managers, internal auditors and executive directors who must interpret NGO accounts are the intended audience. Using sample statements and donor reports, each participant builds an analysis workbook and a dashboard of indicators to monitor their own organization's financial health.
