Bribery rarely announces itself. It hides in consultancy fees, facilitation payments, inflated invoices, gifts and favours extended to people who approve spending. Finance staff sit at the point where money leaves the organisation, so they are often the last effective barrier and the first to be blamed. Five days equip accountants, finance managers and controllers to recognise improper payments and stop them.
The programme walks through bribery risk assessment, ISO 37001 anti-bribery management systems, payment approval and segregation of duties, third-party and agent due diligence, and accounting for gifts, hospitality and donations. A strand on conflict of interest covers declarations, registers, recusal and managing relationships with suppliers and recruitment panels. Ethics sessions deal with codes of conduct, whistleblowing channels, investigation basics and handling pressure from senior colleagues. It is written for finance directors, accountants, procurement and audit staff, grants and donor finance officers, and compliance leads in government, NGOs, banks and companies. Classroom, online and in-house delivery are available. You finish able to design preventive financial controls, document ethical decisions and answer auditors and donors with evidence. A CPD-accredited certificate is awarded on completion.
Corruption and unmanaged conflicts of interest drain budgets, damage donor relationships and expose individuals and boards to prosecution. Many organisations have a code of conduct on paper, yet payments still go through on weak authority, vendors are paid without proper checks and senior people approve spending that benefits their own associates. The finance function is where these failures become visible, and where they can be prevented.
This course focuses on the financial side of integrity. It begins with how bribery and conflicts arise and how to assess exposure by transaction type, location and counterparty. It then builds the control environment: authorisation limits, separation of duties, vendor onboarding, treatment of agents and intermediaries, and the correct recording of gifts, sponsorships and donations. Participants study ISO 37001 as a reference model, learn how to set up conflict registers and recusal procedures, and review how whistleblowing reports should be received and escalated.
Learning is practical. Delegates analyse payment files for warning signs, test their own procedures against realistic scenarios and prepare an integrity control plan they can take back to their workplace.
