Live Online Logistics and Distribution Efficiency Strategies Mastery Training Course

Live online, instructor-led · next cohort Nov 2, 2026 · from USD 800

Transport and warehousing absorb much of the cost of getting goods to customers, yet many organisations still plan routes by habit, hold stock in the wrong places and judge depots on volume rather than service. At an advanced level, five days focus on the decisions that move cost and service together: network design, depot location, inventory positioning, transport mode and fleet choices, route optimisation and warehouse layout. You work with cost-to-serve models, centre-of-gravity analysis, ABC and XYZ segmentation, cross-docking and milk-run design, and the KPIs that expose waste, including OTIF, fill rate, vehicle utilisation and cost per drop.

About this course

Distribution is where supply chain strategy meets the customer, and where inefficiency is most visible: missed delivery windows, half-empty trucks, congested warehouses and stock sitting in the wrong region. Fuel price swings, longer and less predictable import lead times through regional ports, and customers who expect smaller, more frequent deliveries are forcing logistics leaders to rethink networks that were designed for a different era.

The Logistics and Distribution Efficiency Strategies Mastery Training Course is built for experienced practitioners who need to move from running operations to redesigning them. It opens with logistics strategy and the trade-offs between cost, service and working capital, then works through network and facility design, inventory deployment, transport planning and routing, warehouse productivity and outsourcing to third-party logistics providers. The closing day brings these together in a performance management framework and an improvement roadmap.

Delegates analyse realistic shipment, order and warehouse data, test alternative network scenarios, and challenge each other's recommendations in syndicate work. Lean and continuous improvement tools are applied to real distribution problems rather than taught in the abstract, and each participant leaves with a costed set of priorities for their own operation.

Training Objectives

Delegates will leave able to:

  • Evaluate logistics strategy options against cost, service level and working capital targets.
  • Design or reconfigure a distribution network using cost-to-serve and centre-of-gravity analysis.
  • Position inventory across central, regional and forward locations using demand segmentation.
  • Optimise transport planning, load building and vehicle routing for multi-drop deliveries.
  • Improve warehouse throughput through slotting, layout, picking methods and labour planning.
  • Structure and manage 3PL and carrier contracts with service level agreements and KPIs.
  • Build a logistics performance dashboard and a prioritised improvement roadmap.

  • A network scenario comparison showing cost and service trade-offs.
  • A warehouse productivity diagnostic covering slotting, picking and dock management.
  • A set of logistics KPIs with definitions, targets and data sources.
  • A phased efficiency roadmap with estimated savings for their own operation.

Training Methodology

The programme is delivered at senior practitioner level through:

  • Analysis of realistic order, shipment and warehouse data in Excel
  • Network and routing scenario exercises using optimisation tools
  • Case studies from FMCG, pharmaceutical, agribusiness and humanitarian supply chains
  • Syndicate challenges in which teams defend competing recommendations
  • Facilitated discussion of participants' own distribution problems
