Power cuts, cyber incidents, supplier failures, floods and sudden loss of key staff all interrupt critical services, and customers rarely forgive the organisation that was unprepared. Five days show managers how to turn continuity from a binder on a shelf into a tested capability. You work through the business continuity lifecycle in line with ISO 22301 concepts: policy and scope, risk assessment, business impact analysis, recovery time and recovery point objectives, strategy selection and plan writing. Operational resilience thinking is added through critical service mapping, impact tolerances, third-party dependency reviews and scenario testing.
Crisis management and communication sessions prepare leadership teams to make decisions quickly under pressure, and a tabletop exercise lets you practise them. The closing day covers training, audit, metrics and management review so the programme keeps improving. Risk and continuity managers, operations heads, IT service and security leads, facilities managers, internal auditors and public sector managers will benefit. Each participant drafts continuity materials for their own function. The course is offered in the classroom, online or in-house and ends with a CPD-accredited certificate.
Few organisations can say how long they could survive without their core systems, premises or suppliers. Regulators, boards and large customers increasingly expect that answer, backed by evidence that plans exist, have been tested and are owned by the people who would have to use them. When disruption does arrive, the difference between a bad day and a lasting loss is usually preparation.
The Operational Excellence in Business Continuity & Operational Resilience Training Course follows the logic of a mature programme from start to finish. Participants establish governance and scope, assess threats and vulnerabilities, and carry out a business impact analysis that identifies critical activities, dependencies and acceptable downtime. They then choose recovery strategies for people, premises, technology, information and suppliers, and convert those choices into usable response and recovery plans.
Resilience is treated as the wider outcome of that work. The course shows how to map end-to-end services, define impact tolerances, test severe but plausible scenarios and manage concentration risk in outsourced arrangements. A crisis management module covers incident command, escalation and stakeholder messaging. Delivery relies on templates and live exercises: participants complete an impact analysis for their own unit, draft a plan, take part in a tabletop simulation and leave with a maintenance and improvement calendar.
