Most change programmes fail not because the idea was wrong but because people, habits and processes were left unchanged. New systems get bypassed, restructures create confusion, and strategies stall in the gap between the boardroom and the front line. Organisations that treat change as a disciplined operating capability recover faster and lose less goodwill.
This five-day workshop builds that capability. You learn to diagnose culture with tools such as the Competing Values Framework and pulse surveys, assess readiness, map stakeholders and write a change case. Models including Kotter's eight steps, ADKAR and Lewin are compared and applied, alongside organisation design, role clarity, communication cadence and resistance management. Process improvement tools from Lean and continuous improvement, such as value stream mapping and standard work, help turn new behaviours into routine. You also cover change metrics, sustaining mechanisms and leadership coaching. HR and organisational development practitioners, transformation and programme managers, department heads, change champions and consultants will gain the most. Delivery is available in the classroom, online or in-house, with a CPD-accredited certificate. Afterwards you can lead a change initiative from diagnosis to embedding, with a plan your sponsors will support.
Organisations in every sector face mergers, digital systems, new regulations, funding shifts and leadership transitions. Each of these asks staff to behave differently, and behaviour is shaped by culture, structure and daily routines as much as by policy. Leaders who ignore this find that early enthusiasm fades and old habits return within a year.
The programme treats change and organisational development as one connected discipline. Participants first examine how culture forms and how to assess it honestly, then move into change planning: readiness, sponsorship, stakeholder analysis, communication and training. Mid-week sessions introduce organisation design topics such as roles, spans of control, decision rights and team effectiveness. The final days apply operational excellence thinking, using process mapping, root cause analysis and standard work to build new practices into the way work is done, and metrics to check that they hold.
Instruction is highly participative. Teams analyse a realistic organisational case across the week, practise difficult conversations with resistant stakeholders, and prepare a change plan for a real or sample initiative. By the end, each participant has a toolkit and a roadmap that fits their own organisation.
