Most disputes on construction and infrastructure projects trace back to missed notices, undocumented instructions and misunderstood risk allocation rather than to the design itself. Five days teach employers, contractors and consultants how to run a FIDIC contract so that entitlements are protected and problems are settled early. You work through the 2017 Red, Yellow and Silver Books, comparing risk allocation, the role of the Engineer, the Contract Data and the order of precedence of documents.
Sessions follow the contract lifecycle: commencement, programme and time for completion, variations and adjustments, measurement and payment, certificates, taking over, defects and final accounts. You prepare notices of claim, fully detailed claims, determinations under Sub-Clause 3.7, extension of time and cost entitlement analysis, and keep contemporaneous records. Termination, suspension, force majeure or exceptional events, insurance, bonds and the Dispute Avoidance and Adjudication Board process are covered, followed by arbitration under the ICC rules. Contract managers, project managers, quantity surveyors, engineers, procurement officers and legal advisers in public and private projects will benefit. Afterwards you can draft compliant notices and claims and administer a contract with confidence. Delivery is classroom, online or in-house, with a CPD-accredited certificate.
FIDIC forms govern a large share of internationally funded roads, water systems, energy plants and buildings in Africa and beyond. They allocate risk carefully, but only to parties that follow the procedures: serve notice in time, submit particulars, respect the Engineer's role and keep records that prove what happened. Parties that treat the document as a filing exercise often lose entitlements that were legitimately theirs.
The Professional Contract Management & Administration (FIDIC) Training Course gives participants a working command of the conditions rather than a clause-by-clause lecture. It begins with the structure of the suite and the roles of Employer, Contractor and Engineer, then follows the project from award to final payment. Participants learn how to manage time, instructions and variations, valuation and payment, and claims for time and money, and how to avoid or resolve disagreement through determinations, the Dispute Avoidance and Adjudication Board and arbitration.
Teaching rests on a fictional road and building project that unfolds across the week, with correspondence, programmes and claim scenarios that participants must respond to within the contractual time limits. They draft notices, assess delay, prepare payment certificates and present a claim. Some experience of construction or procurement is helpful; legal training is not required.
