Banking regulation has grown more demanding and more technical. Supervisors are expected to adopt risk-based methods, interpret international standards and act early on emerging weaknesses, while banks must show that their compliance programmes work in practice rather than only on paper. Weak supervisory judgement or poor controls can lead to losses for depositors, enforcement penalties and loss of correspondent banking relationships.
The Applied Banking Supervision and Regulatory Compliance Training Course is deliberately hands-on. It starts with the architecture of supervision and the logic of risk-based approaches, then moves into financial analysis of a bank's capital, asset quality, earnings, liquidity and sensitivity to market risk. Participants learn how inspection teams scope a visit, test evidence, grade findings and agree corrective actions. The second half concentrates on the compliance side: financial crime controls, governance, internal audit, outsourcing and consumer conduct, and how supervisors assess these areas.
Instruction relies on anonymised financial statements, ratio workbooks, mock inspection files and role-play meetings between examiners and bank management. Participants complete the programme with a worked supervisory assessment and a compliance improvement plan they can adapt to their own institutions.
After completing the course, participants will be able to:
