Organisations now depend on data for lending decisions, service delivery, donor reporting and automation, yet many cannot say who owns a dataset, how good it is or who may use it. Poor data quality drives rework, wrong decisions and compliance exposure, and new data protection rules have made weak governance a legal risk as well as an operational one.
The Applied Data Governance, Quality & Stewardship Training Course turns principles into a working model. Participants first agree what governance is for and design an operating structure with clear roles, decision rights and escalation paths. They then write the policies and standards that matter most, and learn to classify data and control access. A central block covers data quality: defining measurable rules, profiling datasets, building scorecards, finding root causes and tracking remediation. Further sessions address metadata, catalogues, lineage and master and reference data, the tools stewards use every day.
The course is practical. Participants profile a messy sample dataset, write quality rules, draft a governance charter and set up a stewardship routine. The closing session builds an implementation roadmap that fits the size and maturity of their own organisation.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
