Money laundering and terrorist financing methods change faster than most compliance manuals. Criminals move value through mobile wallets, shell companies, trade invoices and cross-border remittances, while supervisors expect institutions to show that their controls are proportionate to the risks they actually face. Programmes built only on policy documents often generate thousands of low-value alerts and still miss the cases that matter.
This programme collects the practices that consistently distinguish effective AML and CFT functions from weak ones. It starts with institutional risk assessment and the risk-based approach, then examines customer onboarding, ongoing due diligence, politically exposed persons, sanctions and screening. The middle of the week turns to transaction monitoring design, alert tuning, case management and the writing of suspicious activity reports. The closing sessions introduce data analytics for financial crime, including segmentation, anomaly detection, network graphs and dashboards for management reporting.
Teaching combines short expert inputs with anonymised case files, scenario-tuning workshops and group investigations. Participants finish with a gap analysis of their own control framework and a prioritised improvement plan they can take to their board or compliance committee.
