Organisations collect more data than ever, but decisions are still delayed by manual spreadsheets, conflicting numbers and reports that nobody has time to read. Business intelligence tools promise a single source of truth, yet the quality of the result depends far more on modelling discipline and design judgement than on knowing where the buttons are.
The Best Practices in Dashboards & BI (Power BI, Tableau) Training Course teaches both the technical build and the thinking behind it. Participants begin by translating a business question into indicators, data requirements and a user story. They then prepare and model data, comparing how Power BI and Tableau handle connections, relationships, calculations and refresh. The design block covers visual perception, chart choice, interactivity, filters and drill-through, and common errors such as truncated axes, overloaded colour palettes and unlabelled metrics. The final sessions address publishing, governance, security, usage monitoring and an approach to maintaining dashboards over time.
The course is lab-based. Each participant builds a complete dashboard in the tool most relevant to their job, rebuilds key views in the second tool for comparison, and leaves with design checklists, a reusable data model pattern and a documented sample report.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
The training suits those who build, commission or maintain reports and dashboards, including:

The programme is almost entirely hands-on, built around building and critiquing real dashboards:
A CPD-accredited Certificate of Completion from Vision Reach Global Consultancy is awarded to participants who attend the sessions and submit their finished dashboard exercise. It is a training record and not a vendor certification from Microsoft or Tableau.
