Banking regulators across Africa and beyond are moving from periodic inspection toward continuous, data-driven oversight. Digital lending, mobile money partnerships and fast-growing balance sheets create risks that appear first in the numbers, long before an on-site visit. Banks themselves face the same pressure: returns must be accurate, reconciled and explainable, and compliance monitoring must be able to demonstrate how alerts are generated and cleared.
This programme equips supervisors, analysts and compliance professionals with the analytical toolkit for that shift. It starts with the architecture of supervisory data and the quality controls that make analysis trustworthy, then covers ratio analysis, risk indicators, peer comparison and stress testing. Later sessions address monitoring of money laundering and conduct risk, the use of visual dashboards, and governance of models and automated reports so that results remain defensible.
Learning is practical. Participants work with anonymised bank data, build indicators and dashboards, and test thresholds for sensitivity. They also practise writing findings in plain language for a supervisory committee or a bank board. The final session turns each participant's work into an implementation plan for their own institution.
