Climate action is increasingly a data discipline. Governments prepare adaptation plans, banks assess physical risk, companies report emissions to investors and customers, and climate funds ask applicants for evidence at every step. Yet climate and emissions data are often scattered, inconsistent in format or poorly documented, which makes sound analysis difficult.
The Data and Analytics for Climate Action, Adaptation & Carbon Accounting Training Course gives practitioners the working methods to handle that data. Participants start with sources and quality: weather stations, reanalysis products, remote sensing indices, household surveys and utility records. They then learn to prepare data, analyse trends and extremes, and combine hazard, exposure and vulnerability layers into risk measures that can guide adaptation priorities and tracking indicators.
The second half turns to carbon accounting. Participants set organisational and operational boundaries, select emission factors, calculate energy, transport, waste and agricultural emissions, and review how offsets and reduction targets are treated. They also examine verification expectations and how to present uncertainty honestly. Each topic is taught through guided lab work, so participants finish with scripts, workbooks and a short analytical report that can be reused in their own organisations.
By the close of the course, participants will be able to:
