Privacy laws across Africa and beyond place accountability on organisations to demonstrate that personal data is handled lawfully, securely and only for as long as needed. For the data protection officer, that duty is difficult to meet through policy alone. Without measurement, it is hard to know which business units create the greatest exposure, whether training works, or whether the response to a rights request meets legal timelines.
The Data and Analytics for Data Protection & Privacy (DPO) Training Course introduces a measurement mindset to the privacy function. Participants begin by building a structured inventory of personal data and processing activities, which becomes the base for every later analysis. They then develop risk scoring methods, track operational metrics such as request turnaround, breach frequency, consent rates and vendor assessments, and learn basic data quality checks so that figures can be defended.
The course finishes with visual reporting and assurance. Participants design dashboards for executives and regulators, apply sampling and testing techniques to verify controls, and use trend analysis to plan the privacy work programme. Sessions are laboratory based, using sample datasets, so that each participant leaves with a working scorecard and a method they can repeat.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
