Analysts routinely spend more time preparing data than analysing it, yet preparation is rarely taught as a discipline in its own right. This course changes that, covering systematic approaches to identifying data quality issues, handling missing and inconsistent values, standardising formats and validating datasets before use.
Participants practise on genuinely messy sample datasets spanning spreadsheets, exports and database extracts, building reusable cleaning workflows in spreadsheet tools and Python so the same rigour can be applied to any new dataset that lands on their desk.
Throughout the programme, participants work through realistic scenarios drawn from technology organizations, digital transformation programmes, data-driven enterprises, and public sector IT environments, examining how data preparation and cleaning is applied in practice and where it most often breaks down. Delegates will develop practical skill in designing appropriate frameworks, selecting and applying the right tools for peer review and feedback, interpreting findings, and communicating conclusions clearly to colleagues, management and external stakeholders. Sessions move deliberately from principles to application, so that each technique introduced is practised against a realistic problem before the programme moves on — strengthening both individual effectiveness and the wider capability of the organizations delegates return to.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
This course is suited to anyone whose work depends on clean, reliable data, including:
By the end of the Data Preparation and Cleaning Training, participants will leave with:
This training course adopts a practical, participant-centered learning approach that builds data preparation and cleaning expertise, strengthens analytical capability and develops confident professional judgement. The methodology combines specialist facilitation, applied hands-on experience and globally recognized professional practice, so that delegates return able to apply what they have learned immediately rather than in theory only.
Methodology includes:
A Certificate of Completion from Vision Reach Global Consultancy is awarded to all participants who complete the course. The fee includes practice datasets deliberately built with realistic data quality issues, course workbooks, refreshments and certificate processing. Facilitators bring hands-on data preparation experience across sectors.
