Organisations are discovering that centralised data lakes and warehouses scale poorly once dozens of business domains want trustworthy data on demand. Delivery slows, domain knowledge is lost in translation, and quality problems are discovered only after executives challenge a figure. Data mesh and product thinking respond with decentralised ownership backed by shared standards and platform services.
The ten-day programme starts with the case for change, product management fundamentals and the principles of domain ownership, data as a product, self-serve infrastructure and federated governance. Participants then learn to scope data products, define consumers and value, specify schemas, contracts, service levels and metadata, and manage them through a lifecycle from discovery to retirement. The second week addresses architecture and operations: platform capabilities, interoperability standards, pipeline design, observability, security, cost control, team topologies, funding and incentives, and the transition path from existing estates.
Teaching combines concept sessions, design studios and hands-on labs with sample datasets. Throughout the programme teams develop a mesh blueprint for a case organisation, which is presented and reviewed on the final day. Participants return with templates they can adapt to their own environments.
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
