Digital technology is reshaping how agricultural produce is grown, financed, traded and traced. Mobile money, satellite data and low-cost sensors make it possible to reach farmers who were once too remote or too small to serve, while buyers in domestic and export markets now expect proof of origin, quality and sustainability. For agribusinesses, cooperatives and the programmes that support them, the challenge is no longer whether to go digital but how to invest in tools that farmers and firms will keep using.
The Digital Transformation in Agribusiness, Value Chains & Market Systems Training Course connects technology choices to value chain strategy. It starts with mapping value chains and market systems to find the points where information, finance or coordination break down. Participants then review digital extension, farmer data platforms, digital financial services, e-commerce and logistics platforms, precision agriculture and traceability, judging each by evidence, cost and fit. Later sessions turn to data governance, inclusion, partnerships and business models, and finish with planning a digital initiative that can be piloted, measured and scaled.
The course is case-driven and interactive. Participants analyse examples from dairy, horticulture, coffee, grain and livestock value chains, test a mobile data collection tool, and develop a transformation plan for an agribusiness or programme they know well.
At the end of the training, participants will be able to:
