Energy cost and carbon reporting are now board-level concerns for anyone who owns or runs buildings. Yet many portfolios still rely on monthly bills, manual walk-rounds and spreadsheets that show what was spent but not why. Digital tools can reveal where a chiller is hunting, where lights burn after hours and which sites drift from their targets, provided the data is structured and trusted.
This programme builds a practical digital pathway from measurement to decarbonisation. Participants learn how to plan metering and data collection, connect BMS and IoT feeds, clean and baseline consumption data, and set up dashboards and alerts. They then apply analytics to detect faults, compare buildings, verify retrofit savings using IPMVP principles and link energy models to BIM so that design choices are tested before they are built. The closing sessions deal with emissions accounting, funding options, procurement of digital services and change management with building users.
Learning is workshop based, using sample meter data, floor plans and retrofit proposals. Each participant develops a monitoring plan and a decarbonisation roadmap outline for a real or supplied building.
