Infrastructure projects across Africa are increasingly financed by development partners that expect transparent, well-documented contract administration. Yet on many sites, the real record of a FIDIC contract lives in personal inboxes, WhatsApp chats and folders only one person understands. When a claim or dispute arises, parties struggle to prove compliance with notice requirements, and decisions are made on incomplete information.
The Digital Transformation in Contract Management & Administration (FIDIC) Training Course combines a refresher on contract mechanics with the digital tools that make them manageable. Participants review the roles of employer, engineer and contractor, and walk through the key procedures that drive time and money: notices, instructions, variations, extensions of time, valuations, certificates, claims and dispute avoidance. For each, they design the digital workflow that should sit behind it, including who submits, who reviews, what is logged and which deadline triggers a reminder.
The programme is practical. Participants build a notice and correspondence register, a claims and variations tracker and a simple reporting dashboard, and evaluate software options against their organisation's needs. They also consider change management, data protection and training, since tools succeed only when people use them consistently. The week closes with a digital implementation roadmap.
