Digital tools promise faster, richer evidence, but many MEAL digitisation efforts stall because they begin with software instead of with the questions a programme needs answered. Dashboards populated with unreliable data can do more harm than late reports, since they give false confidence. Organisations that succeed pair thoughtful system design with disciplined data quality management and a team ready to use the results.
This programme treats digital transformation as a sequence of practical decisions. Participants begin with a diagnostic of their current MEAL processes and a review of how accountability and learning functions fit alongside monitoring and evaluation. They then design digital workflows from indicator definition through collection, storage, cleaning, analysis and visualisation. Dashboard sessions explain how to choose measures, design for different audiences and avoid misleading visuals. Data quality coverage includes standards, spot checks, verification visits, validation rules and corrective action. The final sessions examine security, consent, governance, staff skills and the cost of keeping systems running.
Hands-on laboratories form the heart of the training. Participants build a collection form, process sample data and publish a dashboard, then draft a transformation roadmap that reflects their organisation's resources and context.
