Central banks now operate in an environment of volatile commodity prices, dollar funding stress, digital payments, climate-related financial risk and heightened public scrutiny. Decisions on the policy rate, liquidity and the exchange rate regime carry consequences for banks, borrowers, government finances and household purchasing power. Executives need more than theory; they need judgement about how instruments work in thin markets.
The Executive Central Banking & Monetary Operations Training Course provides that judgement through a structured sequence. It starts with mandates, independence and the choice of monetary regime, then examines how policy signals travel through interest rates, credit, asset prices and expectations. The central sessions deal with day-to-day operations: liquidity forecasting, open market and repo operations, standing facilities, reserve requirements and the management of foreign exchange reserves and interventions. The programme then turns to financial stability, macroprudential instruments, payment system oversight, crisis preparedness and the central bank's own balance sheet and risk.
Delivery is seminar-based, with decision simulations in which participants set policy under conflicting data and defend their choice. By the end, each delegate will have drafted a briefing note on an operating framework issue and a communication plan for a major policy announcement.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
