Chemicals are used in nearly every sector, from water treatment and agriculture to pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, mining, hospitals and universities. The same substances that make processes possible can burn, poison, corrode or explode when they are mishandled. Serious incidents in process industries have repeatedly shown that the root causes lie in management systems, not only in operator error, which is why senior people need to understand the subject.
The Executive Chemical Handling, Laboratory & Process Safety Training Course gives managers and technical leaders a working command of chemical risk. Participants begin with hazard properties and classification, then follow a chemical through its life on site: purchase, receipt, storage, use, transfer, waste and disposal. Laboratory sessions focus on good practice for bench work, fume cupboards, gas cylinders and reactive or incompatible materials. The process safety strand introduces how loss of containment happens and which barriers prevent it, using tools such as HAZOP, bow-tie diagrams and layers of protection, together with the management systems that keep barriers effective.
Sessions combine briefings, site-inspection exercises and case reviews of well-known industrial incidents. Participants finish by preparing a prioritised gap list and action plan for a facility they manage or oversee.
