Every organisation is a data organisation, whether or not it describes itself that way. Strategy, regulatory returns, customer service and artificial intelligence initiatives all depend on information that is complete, consistent and understood. When data is fragmented across systems and departments, executives debate whose numbers are right instead of making decisions, and compliance obligations around privacy and records are met only by effort and luck.
This programme explains what effective data governance looks like from the leadership seat. Participants first define the purpose and scope of governance and connect it to business outcomes and risk appetite. They then explore decision rights and operating models, including the roles of the sponsor, owner, steward and custodian, and the policies, standards and forums that support them. Quality receives particular attention: dimensions such as accuracy, completeness, timeliness and validity; profiling and measurement; root-cause analysis; and issue management. Further sessions cover metadata, data catalogues, master data, data sharing, privacy and security alignment, and the preparation of data for analytics and AI.
Learning is by case discussion, scorecard design and facilitated workshops. Each executive leaves with a draft governance charter, a short list of critical data elements with owners, and a reporting pack for the board.
