Workplaces in Africa and elsewhere now face a double pressure. Rising temperatures, floods and droughts disrupt operations, damage assets and endanger outdoor and factory workers, and at the same time organisations are recognising that psychosocial hazards such as excessive workload, bullying and job insecurity damage health and performance. Safety and wellbeing teams often struggle to win funding because they cannot express these risks in financial terms.
Financial Management for Climate-Related and Psychosocial Workplace Risk Training Course closes this gap. Participants start by identifying climate and psychosocial hazards and linking them to financial exposures, including lost working time, compensation, medical costs, replacement of staff and asset damage. They then learn costing methods, budgeting for prevention and response, and cost-benefit and payback analysis. Later sessions look at funding and risk transfer options, insurance, reserves, and how to present a financial case to boards and finance committees.
The course is practical. Participants build cost models in spreadsheets, evaluate prevention proposals against each other, and draft a resilience and wellbeing budget for their organisation, supported by facilitated discussion of options that work in resource-constrained settings.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
