Oil and gas projects commit large sums of capital years before revenue arrives, and the economics depend on reserves, price, costs and fiscal terms that all move. A transparent, well-structured model is the main tool for deciding whether to invest, how to finance the project and what a fair deal looks like for the host government and the operator.
The Financial Modeling for Oil and Gas Projects Training Course takes participants from modelling principles to a complete integrated model. The first week establishes good spreadsheet architecture, then builds the technical and commercial building blocks: production forecasting, pricing, capital and operating expenditure, depreciation and inflation. It introduces the main fiscal systems, including concessionary and production sharing arrangements, and shows how to model their cost recovery, profit sharing, royalties and taxes accurately.
The second week adds financing, valuation and risk. Participants structure project finance and reserve-based lending, build debt schedules and cover ratios, value assets and acquisitions, and run uncertainty analysis using scenarios and simulation. Every topic is taught on a laptop, with a case project that grows day by day into a complete deliverable. The course closes with model review techniques and a presentation of results to a mock investment committee.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
