Workplace risk is changing. Extreme heat now limits safe working hours on building sites, farms and in factories, and severe weather disrupts operations and threatens staff travelling to and from work. At the same time, employers are recognising that mental strain, intimidation and unmanageable workloads cause illness, accidents and resignations just as surely as physical hazards do.
The Fundamentals of Climate-Related and Psychosocial Workplace Risk Training Course provides a clear starting point for people who have not previously handled these topics. Participants first revisit core ideas of hazard, risk and control, then apply them to climate-related exposures and to the psychosocial factors that shape wellbeing at work. They learn how to recognise warning signs in individuals and teams, how to gather evidence from workers, and how to decide proportionate actions.
Teaching is practical and discussion-led. Participants complete simple assessments for a hot outdoor job and an office or service setting, draft a policy statement, design a consultation exercise and plan how to measure whether controls are working. No specialist background is needed, only an interest in keeping people safe and well.
