Organisations now depend on data for planning, reporting, regulation and service delivery, yet few have agreed who owns it, how good it is, or who may use it. Poor data costs time in manual reconciliation, damages confidence in dashboards and exposes institutions to privacy and audit findings.
The Fundamentals of Data Governance, Quality & Stewardship Training Course gives participants a clear starting point. It explains what governance is and is not, how it differs from data management and IT security, and how to set it up in proportion to an organisation's size. Participants learn the key roles, the documents that guide behaviour, and the tools that make rules visible, such as glossaries, catalogues and data dictionaries. A substantial part of the programme is devoted to measuring and improving data quality, from profiling and rule design to issue logs and root cause analysis.
Teaching is hands-on and non-technical. Participants work with small sample datasets in spreadsheets, draft a data policy, define roles for a pilot domain and assemble a modest quality scorecard. They finish with a phased plan for introducing stewardship in their own organisation, including the support they will need from leaders.
