Programme results are rarely evenly distributed, and donors increasingly expect M&E teams to show geographic coverage and disparity, not just aggregate indicators. This course builds practical GIS skills for M&E professionals, covering how to geo-tag monitoring data collected through mobile survey tools, map indicator performance against programme boundaries, and calculate service coverage and gap analysis using population and facility location data.
Participants also build reusable indicator dashboard maps for donor and management reporting, and practise integrating GIS outputs directly into standard M&E reporting templates and results frameworks.
Throughout the programme, participants work through realistic scenarios drawn from public sector institutions, private enterprises, development organizations, and regulated professional environments, examining how GIS mapping and spatial analysis for monitoring and evaluation is applied in practice and where it most often breaks down. Delegates will develop practical skill in designing appropriate frameworks, selecting and applying the right tools for mapping indicator performance, interpreting findings, and communicating conclusions clearly to colleagues, management and external stakeholders. Sessions move deliberately from principles to application, so that each technique introduced is practised against a realistic problem before the programme moves on — strengthening both individual effectiveness and the wider capability of the organizations delegates return to.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
GIS Mapping and Spatial Analysis for Monitoring and Evaluation serves M&E practitioners who already manage indicator data and now need to report where results are happening, alongside the technical staff who prepare the underlying spatial layers.
By the end of the GIS Mapping and Spatial Analysis for Monitoring and Evaluation, participants will leave with:
This training course adopts a practical, participant-centered learning approach that builds GIS mapping and spatial analysis for monitoring and evaluation expertise, strengthens analytical capability and develops confident professional judgement. The methodology combines specialist facilitation, applied hands-on experience and globally recognized professional practice, so that delegates return able to apply what they have learned immediately rather than in theory only.
Methodology includes:
Participants who complete all ten days receive a Certificate of Completion from Vision Reach Global Consultancy, validating their ability to geo-tag monitoring data, produce indicator and coverage maps, and build a geo-referenced results framework for a live programme.
The certificate confirms attendance and successful participation, is recognized by employers across the public, private and development sectors, and can be verified directly with Vision Reach Global Consultancy on request.
