Animal production sits at the crossroads of public health, trade and environmental protection. Buyers ask for proof of traceability and residue control, lenders ask about disease risk, and regulators expect licensed premises, accurate records and responsible use of veterinary medicines. Enterprises that treat compliance as an afterthought find out about their gaps during an outbreak or an export rejection, when fixing them is most expensive.
This course walks participants through a complete governance system for aquaculture, poultry and livestock enterprises. It starts by mapping the regulatory landscape and assigning clear responsibilities, then turns to the operational controls that regulators and auditors look for: biosecurity zoning, health plans, medicine registers, withdrawal periods, welfare standards, feed and water quality, waste handling and product traceability. Later sessions cover internal audit, non-conformance handling, incident response and reporting to management.
Teaching combines short technical briefings with practical audit work on sample farm records, hatchery and pond scenarios, and simulated inspector visits. Each participant ends with a legal register, an inspection checklist and a corrective action plan fitted to their own operation.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
