Employers have long understood physical hazards such as machinery and chemicals. Two newer categories now demand equal attention. Climate-related hazards, including heat, flooding, storms and smoke, change when and where people can safely work. Psychosocial hazards, including excessive workload, bullying, harassment and violence, damage health just as surely and are strongly tied to absence, turnover and claims.
The Governance and Compliance in Climate-Related and Psychosocial Workplace Risk Training Course concentrates on how leaders govern and evidence the management of these risks. Participants start with the duty of care and the regulatory and standards landscape, then learn to identify exposure, assess likelihood and severity, and choose proportionate controls. They explore the role of the board, executive and line manager, how to consult workers and representatives, how to build metrics and how to respond when controls fail.
The course is intended for experienced practitioners. Teaching uses cases, risk-assessment clinics and structured debate rather than lecture alone, and participants work towards a draft governance framework, policy set and assurance plan that can be taken back to their executive team.
