Disruption is now a normal feature of supply chains rather than a rare event. Port congestion, currency shortages, fuel price shocks, border delays, supplier insolvency and extreme weather all hit organisations that hold too little of the wrong items and too much of everything else. Many teams discover during a crisis that nobody has defined which items are critical, how long they could last without them, or who is authorised to release emergency funds.
The Inventory Contingency Planning for Supply Chain Disruption Training Course builds a complete preparedness framework, starting with risk mapping and item criticality and moving through safety stock logic, buffer policies, alternative sourcing and the design of response playbooks. Participants practise quantifying the cost of holding contingency stock against the cost of a stock-out, so that proposals to management are backed by numbers. Later sessions turn to monitoring, trigger points, post-disruption recovery and the lessons that should feed back into policy.
Teaching combines short explanations with worked stock datasets, scenario simulations and group exercises based on realistic situations in retail, health, manufacturing, humanitarian and public-sector supply. Each participant produces a contingency plan outline for their own organisation by the final day.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
The course serves people who plan, hold or protect stock and who must keep operations running when supply is interrupted, including:
Participants leave with practical tools they can apply the following week:
Learning is built around doing, with theory kept to what planners need to make decisions:
On completing the sessions and the practical exercises, participants receive a CPD-accredited Certificate of Completion issued by Vision Reach Global Consultancy, recognising the contingency planning skills demonstrated during the programme.
