Supervisors and correspondent banks now judge a financial institution by the quality of its financial crime controls, and a single weak programme can lead to penalties, de-risking and lost relationships. Compliance heads are asked to do more with data while managing teams that are stretched by alert volumes. Leading this function well takes both analytical fluency and the management skills to turn analysis into consistent performance.
This programme takes participants through the control environment from enterprise-wide risk assessment to case closure. It starts with money laundering and terror financing typologies and the global standards behind them, then examines customer risk rating, ongoing monitoring and sanctions controls. A central block applies analytics to detection: scenario design, threshold calibration, segmentation, anomaly detection, entity resolution and network mapping. Later sessions focus on leadership, including structuring the three lines of defence, setting measurable targets, managing investigators and communicating with regulators.
Learning is practical. Participants work through anonymised data extracts, review sample monitoring rules, rehearse board presentations and critique real-style suspicious activity reports. They finish with a performance dashboard design and an improvement plan for their own function.
