Physical assets underpin service delivery in utilities, transport, health, local government, energy and manufacturing, and poor stewardship shows up quickly as breakdowns, audit queries and wasted capital. Auditors frequently find unrecorded or ghost assets, missing valuations and disposals that were never approved, while operations teams struggle to justify maintenance budgets. Strong asset management brings finance, engineering and operations together around a single picture of what the organisation owns, what condition it is in and what it will cost over its life.
The Leadership and Performance in Asset Management (Fixed Assets, ISO 55001) Training Course combines the management system view of the standard with the day-to-day disciplines of fixed asset control. It opens with the principles of asset management and the role of leadership in setting policy and objectives. It then covers asset registers and accounting treatment, lifecycle planning and maintenance strategy, risk and performance measurement, and the internal audit and management review processes needed to sustain improvement. Throughout, the emphasis is on leading people and aligning departments, not only on technical procedures.
Participants learn through case material from public and private organisations, register clean-up exercises, lifecycle cost calculations and a structured gap assessment. Each participant drafts elements of an asset management plan that can be presented to their own leadership team.
