Energy costs, tightening building standards and investor scrutiny of climate risk are turning building performance into a leadership issue. An owner who cannot show how a portfolio will cut emissions faces higher operating costs, weaker lettability and harder conversations with lenders. Yet many organisations still treat energy as a utilities line, with no accountable owner, no baseline and no plan for capital.
The Leadership and Performance in Building Energy Performance & Decarbonisation Training Course is written for people who set direction and answer for results. It starts with how to measure what a portfolio uses and emits, then moves to strategy: target setting, pathway modelling, retrofit sequencing and the economics of efficiency, onsite renewables and electrification. Later sessions deal with delivery and governance, including procurement of audits and contractors, performance contracting, verification of savings, reporting to boards and investors, and building a culture in which facilities teams and tenants share responsibility for outcomes.
The learning method centres on a sample portfolio that participants analyse together, supported by executive briefings, discussion of leadership dilemmas and peer review. Everyone leaves with a draft decarbonisation roadmap and board paper for their own estate.
