As reporting, analytics and automation depend ever more heavily on core business systems, the people who run the data estate carry more responsibility than their job titles suggest. A failed overnight load, a corrupted ERP master record or an unnoticed schema change can stop invoicing, distort dashboards and shake confidence in the whole data function. Leaders must therefore combine sound technical judgement with the ability to organise teams, manage demand and show value.
This programme is written for people who already understand data technology and now lead others who build and run it. The technical thread reviews how operational databases, data warehouses, lakes and streaming services fit together, how ERP data is extracted, mapped, cleansed and governed, and which design decisions affect resilience, performance and cost. The leadership thread covers setting direction, translating business demand into a prioritised backlog, defining service levels and error budgets, running incident reviews, applying DataOps practices, managing suppliers and cloud spend, and developing a strong engineering culture.
The final days turn learning into practice through an integrated review of a case platform. Participants analyse its weaknesses, propose a roadmap and present performance measures to a simulated executive committee, using templates they can take back to their own teams.
