Data has become a strategic asset, but it is only an asset when people can find it, understand it and rely on it. Poor quality quietly drains money through rework, failed reports, regulatory penalties and decisions made on the wrong figures. Technology alone does not fix this. What changes outcomes is leadership that clarifies who is accountable for which data, agrees the rules, measures quality honestly and keeps people engaged after the launch.
This advanced programme treats governance, quality and stewardship as one leadership agenda. Participants study how to choose and tailor an operating model, form a data council, define decision rights and write practical policies and standards. They learn how to define quality dimensions such as accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness and validity, measure them through profiling and rules, and manage issues from detection to root cause and remediation. The programme also explores the stewardship role in depth, and how metadata, catalogues, lineage and master data support trusted reporting.
Because governance is as much about people as process, the course gives equal weight to influencing, sponsor management, change and performance measurement. Participants work on their own organisation through the week, building a governance charter, a stewardship model and a quality scorecard, and leave with an action roadmap for the first ninety days.
