Digital tools have changed what is possible in monitoring and evaluation. Mobile collection, cloud databases and interactive dashboards promise real-time insight, yet many organisations find that technology alone does not improve decisions. Dashboards that display unreliable figures, duplicated systems that never reconcile, and teams that see MEAL as a reporting chore all weaken accountability to communities and funders. Leaders play the decisive role in turning data into a management asset.
The Leadership and Performance in Digital MEAL, Dashboards & Data Quality Training Course is designed for managers who direct MEAL work rather than operate every tool. It starts with strategy: aligning the MEAL system with organisational goals, defining performance questions and agreeing a data governance model. Participants then examine how to commission and specify dashboards, from user needs and indicator definitions to design principles and access rules. A major block addresses data quality, including accuracy, completeness, timeliness, validity, integrity and reliability, and the routine audits and spot checks that protect them. Accountability and learning receive equal weight, with feedback channels, complaint handling, adaptive management and after-action reviews.
The final sessions cover leading people through change, setting performance targets for MEAL teams and presenting evidence persuasively. Participants practise on realistic scenarios and leave with a costed improvement plan.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
