Assets are usually the largest item on an organisation's balance sheet and the main source of operating risk. Governments, utilities, hospitals, banks and manufacturers all depend on equipment and property working when needed, and all face pressure to do more with ageing stock and tight budgets. Weak records and reactive maintenance lead to ghost assets, overstated values, safety incidents and avoidable emergency spending.
The Management of Asset Management (Fixed Assets, ISO 55001) Training Course joins the finance view of assets with the engineering and operations view. Participants first learn the structure and intent of ISO 55001 and how an asset management system differs from a maintenance programme. They then develop the building blocks: a complete register, a consistent hierarchy and coding scheme, physical verification, condition and criticality scoring, and lifecycle cost analysis. The course shows how these inputs feed capital plans, maintenance strategies, replacement decisions and financial reporting for fixed assets, including depreciation, revaluation, impairment and disposal.
Delivery is workshop based. Participants apply each tool to a sample asset portfolio, then review what they would need to change in their own organisation. The week ends with an audit-style gap review against the standard and a prioritised improvement roadmap.
On completion, participants will be able to:
