Large infrastructure projects in roads, water, energy, buildings and public facilities are frequently procured on FIDIC forms, and many development partners require them. The forms allocate risk carefully and set strict procedures for notices, instructions, claims and payment. Parties who do not follow those procedures can lose entitlements regardless of the merits, and projects then slip into delay, cost overrun and conflict.
Operational Excellence in Contract Management and Administration trains participants to treat the contract as a management system rather than a document kept in a drawer. It starts with the architecture of the FIDIC suite and the allocation of risk between the parties, then follows the project through its life: mobilisation, programme control, change management, valuation, claims, certification and closure. Particular attention goes to the discipline of record keeping, the timing of notices, the role and impartiality of the Engineer, and the fair determination of matters. Participants also study delay and disruption concepts, the treatment of concurrent delay, and escalating disagreement through dispute avoidance, adjudication and arbitration provisions.
The sessions are practical and based on realistic scenarios and extracts. Participants draft notices and responses, evaluate claim submissions and complete a final integrated case in which they act for different parties, so that they see how good administration looks from both sides.
