Regulators, correspondent banks and development partners now expect financial institutions to prove that their anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing controls work in practice, not just that a policy exists. Weak customer due diligence, noisy monitoring systems and poorly evidenced reports expose institutions to penalties, de-risking and loss of trust, while overloaded compliance teams struggle to separate genuine risk from false alarms.
The Planning and Implementation of AML / CFT & Financial Crime Analytics Training Course follows the life of a compliance programme. It starts with national and institutional risk assessment, then moves through customer onboarding, ongoing monitoring, sanctions and watchlist controls, and the handling of alerts and escalations. The second half introduces analytics: how to design detection scenarios, measure their effectiveness, profile customer behaviour, map networks of related accounts and recognise typologies such as trade-based laundering, mobile money layering and shell-company structures.
Participants work with anonymised datasets and case files in spreadsheets and simple query tools, so no programming background is needed. They finish the week with a draft implementation plan, a prioritised list of monitoring scenarios and a reporting template they can take back to their compliance function.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
