Governance failures rarely come from the absence of a policy. They come from policies that were never owned, resourced or checked, and from boards that review compliance once a year rather than steer it. Investors, lenders, regulators and development partners increasingly ask not only whether an organisation has a code, but whether it can show that the code is applied and that the board knows the difference.

Planning and Implementation of Corporate Governance & Board Effectiveness Training Course is a ten-day programme for those responsible for making that happen. The first block diagnoses current practice, sets priorities and designs the governance framework: board composition, roles, committees, delegation, ethics and disclosure. The second block develops the tools for putting it into practice, including policy drafting, onboarding, meeting management, board information, evaluation and succession. Days six to ten deepen the work through risk and internal control oversight, shareholder and stakeholder engagement, performance and remuneration governance, crisis scenarios and an integrated project in which each participant builds a full implementation plan.

Learning is workshop-based. Participants analyse case files, draft documents, rehearse board discussions and receive structured feedback, so that the plan they present on the last day is realistic and ready to take back to their own board.

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

• Conduct a governance gap analysis against recognised codes and principles.
• Design board structures, committee charters and delegations of authority that fit the organisation.
• Draft governance policies on ethics, conflicts of interest, disclosure and whistleblowing.
• Plan an annual board calendar, agenda and information pack that supports good decisions.
• Design board and director evaluation, induction and succession processes.
• Apply risk, internal control and audit oversight practices at board level.
• Manage stakeholder engagement and resistance during governance change.
• Produce a costed, sequenced implementation plan with measures of success.

• An evaluation toolkit and a director induction programme.
• A stakeholder engagement and change plan with risks to rollout identified.
• A costed governance implementation roadmap with owners, milestones and indicators.

The ten days follow the life of a governance reform, alternating short inputs with applied workshops. Participants experience:

• Expert-led sessions on each stage of planning and implementation
• Governance case files from listed companies, state corporations and not-for-profits
• Document labs for charters, policies, board packs and evaluation tools
• Board meeting simulations and role plays with facilitator feedback
• A running project in which each participant builds an implementation plan for their own organisation

Participants who complete the ten days and the practical project are awarded a CPD-accredited Certificate of Completion by Vision Reach Global Consultancy.

The certificate recognises attendance and the delivery of exercises and the final implementation plan.
