Demand for fish, eggs, meat and milk keeps rising with urban incomes, but animal farms operate on thin margins. A single disease outbreak, a poor feed batch or a badly timed stocking decision can erase a season of profit, and smallholders and commercial producers alike need dependable, evidence-based routines rather than trial and error.
The Practical Aquaculture, Poultry & Livestock Production Training Course moves from enterprise selection and site planning through to daily husbandry, health management and marketing. Participants study pond construction and fingerling selection, brooding and flock management, feed formulation and pasture planning, and the breeding choices that raise productivity over several generations. Integrated systems such as fish-and-poultry or dairy-and-biogas are examined for the way they recycle nutrients and spread risk.
The course is deliberately hands-on. Participants calculate feed conversion ratios, build vaccination and treatment calendars, review real farm records and complete a costed production plan for an enterprise of their choice, so that ideas can be applied on the farm the following week. Facilitators draw on common East African conditions, including seasonal feed shortages, variable water supply and uneven access to veterinary services.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
