Data has become a core asset for banks, ministries, hospitals and development programmes, yet few organisations manage it with the care they give to money or people. Analytics, artificial intelligence and regulatory reporting all depend on data that is accurate, consistent and clearly owned. When it is not, projects stall, audits find gaps and managers lose faith in the numbers they are shown.
This hands-on programme takes governance out of the policy folder and into daily work. Participants start by assessing the maturity of their current data practices and agreeing a realistic scope. They design the operating model: roles, decision rights, committees, policies and standards. Attention then turns to quality, where participants profile real-looking datasets, define business rules, measure results and set up the routines through which stewards find and fix problems at source.
The final sessions extend into metadata, master and reference data, security and privacy obligations. Participants produce a governance charter, a set of quality rules and a stewardship plan tailored to a data domain from their own organisation.
