Retirement is a life transition, not just a payroll event, yet many employees approach it with a pension statement and little else. This course prepares staff nearing retirement for the financial, psychological, and practical dimensions of the change, covering pension and benefits planning, budgeting for reduced income, health and wellness considerations, and the identity shift that comes with leaving a long-held role.
Participants also explore options for a purposeful post-retirement life, including part-time work, consulting, entrepreneurship, and community involvement, along with basic estate and legal planning. The course is designed to leave participants with a concrete personal retirement plan, not just awareness of the issues.
Throughout the programme, participants work through realistic scenarios drawn from public sector institutions, private enterprises, development organizations, and regulated professional environments, examining how Pre-Retirement planning is applied in practice and where it most often breaks down. Delegates will develop practical skill in designing appropriate frameworks, selecting and applying the right tools for identity, purpose, and the next chapter, interpreting findings, and communicating conclusions clearly to colleagues, management and external stakeholders. Sessions move deliberately from principles to application, so that each technique introduced is practised against a realistic problem before the programme moves on — strengthening both individual effectiveness and the wider capability of the organizations delegates return to.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
