Organisations today are watched continuously. A single video, leaked memo or poorly worded statement can reach thousands of people before management has finished its first meeting, and journalists, regulators, donors and customers all expect quick, honest and consistent answers. Reputation takes years to build but can be damaged within hours, which makes preparation a core professional responsibility rather than an optional extra.
The Professional Crisis and Strategic Communication Training Course combines two connected disciplines. In the first part, participants learn to align communication with organisational strategy: analysing stakeholders, setting objectives, shaping key messages, selecting channels and measuring outcomes. In the second part, they learn how crises develop and how to prepare for them through risk mapping, crisis team structures, decision rights, approved templates and spokesperson training. Practical sessions address media interviews, written statements, social media response, internal communication with staff and engagement with affected communities and regulators.
The learning approach is rehearsal based. Participants draft documents, practise interviews on camera and take part in a timed simulation in which events develop and decisions must be explained to a sceptical audience. They finish with a ready-to-adapt crisis communication plan.
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
