Global shocks, port congestion, fuel price swings and regional trade barriers have shown organisations that lean, just-in-time supply models are efficient only while everything goes to plan. In East and Southern Africa, long lead times, border delays and foreign exchange exposure make the problem sharper still. Stockouts cost sales and credibility, while excess stock locks up cash and invites obsolescence, so leaders need a deliberate balance rather than a reaction to the last crisis.
The Resilience, Risk Management and Inventory Agility Training Course starts with the structure of modern supply networks and the sources of vulnerability inside them. Participants then learn to identify, assess and rank risks with practical tools, and to design mitigation such as buffer capacity, alternative suppliers, contract clauses and visibility tools. The second half focuses on inventory: classifying items, calculating safety stock under variable demand and lead time, choosing replenishment policies and deciding where in the network stock should sit.
Learning is anchored in worked data sets and short case files drawn from manufacturing, retail, humanitarian and public-sector supply chains. Participants build spreadsheet models during the sessions and leave with a draft risk register, a stocking policy proposal and an action plan for their own organisation.
