Organisations that depend on physical assets, from utilities and hospitals to factories and county governments, carry large exposure that rarely appears on a risk register. Equipment is run to failure, replacements are decided by whoever argues loudest, and fixed-asset registers drift away from what is actually in the field. The result is unplanned downtime, safety incidents, wasted capital and audit queries.
The Risk Management for Asset Management (Fixed Assets, ISO 55001) Training Course sets out a disciplined alternative. Participants begin with the principles of asset management and the structure of ISO 55001, then apply the ISO 31000 risk process to assets: context, identification, analysis, evaluation and treatment. Criticality assessment, failure mode analysis and condition-based thinking are used to decide where to inspect, maintain, renew or dispose. The later sessions connect risk to the asset register, life-cycle costing, performance measurement and management review.
Teaching is workshop-based. Participants use an example asset portfolio throughout, so they finish with a criticality ranking, a populated risk register and a draft treatment plan that can be adapted to their own organisation.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
